This month-long celebration honors the rich history and diverse cultures of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. With origins across Asia—from East to South Asia—and the Pacific islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, the AAPI community is vibrant and growing. In fact, they make up about 7% of the U.S. population, totaling around 20.6 million people. Join us from May 1 to May 31, 2024, to celebrate their contributions to America! Cultural competency and recognizing the strength in diversity are fundamental principles that guide the public health work we do. Let’s use this month as a beginning to honor the amazing culture and contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
